BRONX, NEW YORK, April 30- The fire marshal is currently investigating a house fire in the Country Club section that claimed the life of an
elderly woman and critically injured another.
Firefighters were called to the two-family home at 3205 Ampere Avenue at 7:40 a.m., on Tuesday, April 30. Within minutes of their arrival,
firefighters removed an 84-year-old woman and a 45-year-old male from the burning home.
Both were transported to Jacobi Hospital where the woman was pronounced dead and the man was reported to be in serious condition. The name of the victim was pending proper family notification.
According to the FDNY, three firefighter's suffered minor injuries.
According to one neighbor, the family had lived in the home for at least the last 30 years. The elderly woman, who had been sick recently, was somehow caring for her mentally disabled son.
