BRONX, NEW YORK (BRONX NEWS) A verbal dispute among co-workers at a local nursing home escalated into a bloody confrontation-- with one worker stabbed in the chest and the other in jail for attempted murder.
According to police officials, officers from the 47th Precinct were called to the Parkview Home for Adults, located at 3200 Bronx Boulevard at Burke Avenue, on the Allerton - Williamsbridge border, at 9:30 a.m., on July 30.
Police say the unidentified victim was stabbed multiple times, including once to the chest inside the 134-bed assisted-living home for senior citizens. The victim was rushed to Jacobi Hospital where he was expected to recover from his wounds.
Officers at the scene arrested the suspect, identified as Kris Vialva, 38, of Washington Avenue in the Bronx. Vialva was charged with attempted murder, several counts of assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
According to one police source, "The victim, a 36-year-old Bronx male was in a verbal dispute when he was stabbed multiple times."
One resident of the home explained, "There was a big commotion and the police and paramedics arrived." The resident could not say what the two workers were fighting about.
One area resident stated residents of the home keep to themselves and many are friendly with the public. The resident offered, "Now one guy is in the hospital and the other guy will likely lose his job over this."
A woman answering the phone at Parkview Home for Adults stated, "We are in the middle of serving lunch," but vowed someone would return the phone call, but no one did.
According to the Bronx District Attorney's office, Vialva was arraigned and was remanded and being held on $25,000 bond.
According to court documents the victim was stabbed a half dozen times and officers discovered Vialva with the knife still in his pocket when he was arrested.
