Worker Wounded in Fordham Bodega Shooting

By David Greene

BRONX, NEW YORK, October 1- A worker at a Fordham bodega was the unintended target who was wounded after a dispute between the store owner and a customer.

According to multiple sources, the victim was shot at just after 4 p.m., on September 30, inside of the Taiz Deli, located at 2654 Valentine Avenue at E. 194 Street.

The male victim was shot one-time in the left hip and taken to St. Barnabas Hospital and was expected to make a full recovery.

A witness at the scene who asked to not be identified, stated, "The owner of the store had gotten into a fight earlier and I guess he (the gunman) came back and shot up the store... but he shot the wrong guy."

The unidentified owner of the store was questioned by police and was observed as he rushed to the hospital to see the victim, said to be the man's cousin.

Police continue to search for the suspect, described as a male Black, 5 9 tall, 160 - 180-pounds, wearing green cargo pants, gray hooded jacket and a white hat with a white brim.

The suspect reportedly fled eastbound on E. 194 Street and turned north on Briggs Avenue. The suspect was possibly seen fleeing with a female, wearing a dark green hooded jacket and black sneakers.

Police are still looking for the gunman who shot and killed Derrick Richardson, 21, who was shot on August 5, outside of 2127 Valentine Avenue, at E. 181 Street.
