Stevenson Comes from Behind with Big Win
By Gary Quintal
BRONX, NEW YORK (SPORTS)- The PSAL saw 5 contests in the Bronx during its opening week for Boys Varsity Football. Among the early Saturday contests, Cup Conference schools Adlai Stevenson Campus hosted Alfred E. Smith Campus.
Smith Campus took a first quarter 6-0 lead on a touchdown pass while Stevenson appeared shaky with multiple botched snaps from center, including one on a punt that led to a turnover on downs at midfield.
But Stevenson scored 30 unanswered points starting with a second quarter TD pass to tie the game and three touchdown runs in the second half.
Stevenson went on to win 30 - 6.
Week two match-ups in the Bronx are highlighted by a Saturday noon meeting between Dewitt Clinton and Abraham Lincoln High School.
