BRONX, NEW YORK, September 10- PSAL football action opened with a number of matches throughout the city including the home opener for the Truman Mustangs hosting Midwood High School. The game had its most exciting moments in the last few minutes scoring 20 of the games 26 points on the games last three possessions.
Truman fell behind early when a first quarter TD run by Midwood gave the Hornets a 6-0 lead. The score would remain the same with Truman holding off numerous Midwood charges including two consecutive red zone possessions in the fourth quarter.
With less than a minute remaining and Truman's offense struggling all day, the Mustangs tied the game with 49 seconds left in the game off a touchdown pass. Unfortunately, Truman could n0t finsih off Midwood missing the 2-point conversion leading to an opening week overtime.
Truman scored a touchdown on their first overtime try but could not convert on the extra point again leaving the game in the hands of their defense which had held the Hornets to only 6 points in regulation. Midwood however scored a quick touchdown and converted their extra point conversion to end the overtime contest 14-12.
